San Diego Ranch Coast Newspaper Group has its offices in one the most affluent communities in the U.S. In Rancho Santa Fe, average single family home sale prices are $2.5 million, down from about $3.3 million a year ago. Three North San Diego County communities are served by Ranch Coast papers.

The Rancho Santa Fe Review showcases its hill community of multi-million dollar estates with horses, charitable foundations and upper crust society. Carmel Valley News is read by its community of affluent, younger families where house prices average in the million dollar range. The Del Mar Village Voice serves this "colorful and eccentric" Southern California beachfront community. Its residents are sometimes called "Del-Martians" by the good people in Rancho Santa Fe and Carmel Valley.

The 10,000 Rancho Santa Fe Review papers are mostly mailed with about 20 percent distributed by rack. The 20,000 Carmel Valley papers are delivered mostly by carriers to homes. And the 8,000 Del-Mar papers are a combination of rack and single copy delivery. Each edition ranges from around 60 pages to over 100 pages each week.

Dex Allen, publisher, purchased the three papers just over three years ago. Allen had spent 30 years in the broadcast business as a partner in three radio stations in the San Diego market.
